Living Healthy with Natural Products has a new name: Simply Sustainable, Inc.

We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization reaching out to the community to live a healthier life style.

We have been living in a society where both parents work to make ends meet and most of our food comes from a grocery store rather than a home garden. It's easier to heat up a frozen meal in the microwave or go through a drive-thru and we wonder why there is such a need for health care. Even our children are dealing with obesity, ADD/ADHD, autism and other disorders.

It's a new year and time to so some spring cleaning. In the long run it will be worth it to you and your family. We need to become a community again and get back to the basics. Simply Sustainable helps communities bring back the homestead lifestyle and provides workshops and other classes teaching sustainable living and the pioneer lifestyle; emergency preparedness and getting your "healthy" food storage in place. The forecast for our economy does not look like it will be getting any better anytime soon.

We'll learn to make natural products for the home that is fun, cost effective and a healthier way to live.

We'll be making everything from homemade laundry soap to cosmetics using natural and organic ingredients. There will even be a little something for pets. Canning and preserving. Bigger projects include solar dryers, wind energy and biofuels; raised bed gardening, composting, hydroponics and aquaponics.

Can you imagine knowing what goes into your lipstick or foundation and being able to create a color that is right for you without the high cost of brand make-up or losing out on the quality by using cheap make-up.

Do you enjoy making soap for the home and giving them out as gifts to share with family and friends?

So, let's get started replacing all the over priced, unhealthy products we may have in our homes and start living a more natural lifestlye!

Simply Sustainable will also be offering workshops for children 12 and over. Don't have time to cook then let your children learn how to make healthy meals for the family.

Help us spread the word! Your donations and contributions will help us bring in more speakers and lower the cost of food preparation demonstrations and workshops. We'd like to provide healthy food alternatives to low income families, senior citizens and new mothers. Our goal this year is to open a community Farmer's Market and start an organic and natural food cooperative in the areas of Phelan, Victorville, Oak Hills and Hesperia. There is an established food coop currently in Apple Valley (Bountiful Harvest).

Here's to a happier and healthier new year!
